My regular go-to guy for bass setups and service didn't feel comfortable with doing any extensive bodywork or finish repair and the other master luthier I'd been referred to was located further than I was willing to drive. As luck would have it, Google directed me to Eddie Hulse's shop which was pretty much just around the corner from me. I sent him two Spector basses--a Korean NS2000/5 and an Ian Hill Euro 4LX--for repairs and modification. Eddie has the patience of Gandhi for being so accommodating to my unreasonable and often-unrealistic OCD-driven requests; he worked his magic and made both imports look, feel, play, and sound every bit as special as my USA-made Spector models. He even went above and beyond in reversing the years of abuse my NS2000/5 had suffered from its previous owners, seamlessly reversing a poorly-routed cavity left from the first owner and making any evidence of the repairs 100% undetectable (see below). Eddie isn't just a guitar tech, he's an artisan and a craftsman. I highly recommend Hulse Guitars to anyone who needs anything 4/5/6/7/8/9/12-string related.
